STUDIOGEE served as the lead design architect for the new Whole Foods Market in St. Charles, Illinois, overseeing phases of the project from due diligence, conceptual design and pre-design, schematic design, equipment planning, and design development.
Located on the site of the former Blue Goose Market, a cherished local institution, the design thoughtfully honors the deep community roots and legacy of the site. STUDIOGEE’s vision was to create a space that not only met Whole Foods Market’s high standards for functionality and brand identity but also resonated with the cultural memory and pride of St. Charles residents.
The architectural approach weaved together Whole Foods' modern retail sensibilities with subtle nods to the legacy of Blue Goose—incorporating warm materials, nostalgic color palettes, and local references that reflect the market’s long standing role in the community. The result is a store experience that feels both fresh and familiar, designed to foster a sense of continuity while introducing a new chapter of food and gathering to the region.
By blending strategic planning, community engagement, and design excellence, STUDIOGEE delivered a market that celebrates local heritage while embracing a forward-thinking retail future.
